F&B CONSULTATION


Food Shop License
 

All food retail establishments must be licensed in order to operate. The Food Shop license costs $195.00 and is valid for one year.
 


Food Stall License
 

For the operation of a food stall where there is retail sale of food and/or beverage in a food shop. The Food Stall license costs S$32.00 and is valid for one year except for those food stalls in primary, secondary and junior college school canteens.
 


Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
 

Food Handler working in food establishments need to be registered with NEA. Any person who wishes to be registered as food handler can attend the course provided by any of the WDA accredited training providers. The duration of course is 7.5 hour including of 1.5 hour of assessment. 


Halal Food Certificate
 

Halal food is to be prepared under strict Muslim dietary laws. Only those who prepared the food accordingly will be certified for the halal certificate. To be Halal certified, not only the way of preparation is important, the stall/food establishment should not also sell liquor/beer. The cost of getting a certificate will cost at least $147.66 (except for school canteen and short term stall.
 


Liquor License
 

 For business retail that intends to supply any liquor for sale, barter or exchange will required to have a liquor license. The cost will be $520 - $1600 with a validity of 1 year. The processing time will take about 14 working days.
 


Tobacco License
 

For the retail of tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigar, ang hoon, etc at a physical outlet at a specific location. The new license application fee is $400 ($60 for admin fee and $340 license fee), with the subsequent renewal fee at $300. It is valid for 12 months.
 


License to Store LPG
 


Anyone intends to import, transport or store petroleum or flammable materials are required to obtain a license (P&FM license) from SDCF. The cost will be $48 - $1320 depending on the quantity of storage state the materials is.
 


Fire Safety License
 


Fire safety certificate are required to be applied and obtain before any commencing of business. Fire safety certificate is to ensure that the owner compliance with the regulation as failure to do so is liable to court action under Fire Safety Act.
 


EMA Electrical Installation License
 

One’s are required to obtain an electrical installation licence when you use or operate an electrical installation of approved load exceeding 45 kVA for non-domestic purposes. The cost for the license (new or renewal) to be valid for 1 year will be $100. EMA license application and renewal are to be done by license LEW holding the appropriate qualification.  


Pest Control
 

All food establishments are to engage a pest control company to keep pest at bay. Recommended frequency is once per month, with the need of increasing frequency in situation that pest becomes a problem.

 


Grease Trap Cleaning Service
 

Only licensed general waste collectors are able to provide the service. Waste collectors holding class c license are allowed to collect sludge and grease from grease interceptor.
 


NEA Approved Layout
 

All store/food establishments have to prepare a layout to be approved by NEA before the commencing of operation.
 


Yearly Exhaust Hood Maintenance Cleaning
 

As per NEA requirement, owners are to clean and maintained the exhaust ducts (including the interior) and kitchen hoods at least once in every 12 month. It shall be carried out by a specialist and the document will be verified by relevant authority. Failure to do so will constitute an offence under the Fire Safety act.
